We have enjoyed this Autumn Sangria ever since we first tried it and wrote this blog last year. This is a great drink to make for any Fall occasion. We're making it tonight. Enjoy!
2016 REPOST
Instead of brining over our standard bottle of red to our neighbor’s house for Friday night, family pizza party fun, I decided to shake it up a bit.
I found an intriguing recipe on Pinterest titled Autumn Sangria. This seasonal take differs from a traditional Sangria by leaving out the summer fruits (strawberries, oranges, lemons and limes), Brandy (or choice liqueur), sugar and soda and replacing with; apples, pears, apple cider and cinnamon sticks. Both versions of course contain the star ingredient, red wine.
The recipe is easy and the result was refreshing and delicious. I will be making this again for more Fall and Winter gatherings.
What You’ll Need:
- 1 bottle of red wine (I chose Cabernet Sauvignon, but any red will work)
- 2 cups apple cider
- 1 chopped apple
- 1 chopped pear
- 3 cinnamon sticks
To Make:
Simply combine above ingredients in a large pitcher, mix and either refrigerate for a few hours and/or pour over ice. Cheers and pass the pizza!
Cheers,
Brenda
