Music & Wine – Our Go to Pandora Stations

We love Pandora radio. Between Lauren and I, we have over 50 Pandora stations saved on our profiles. Different stations to play just the right type of music for our mood. We do however have our go to stations. The stations that do not disappoint and rarely give a song where we need to select “thumbs down” to never play again or, have to skip to the next track. Below is a list of our absolute go to stations and wine pairings for when we just want to hear the music we love.

--- Brenda’s Picks ---

Hipster BBQ Radio – Upbeat music from artists like; MGMT, Alt J, Odessa, Empire of the Sun, The XX, Foster the People, and Vance Joy to name a few. This station plays music with electronica influences, subtle uses of vocal harmonies and basic rock sounds. I can often hear one of my favorite songs of the moment like, It Ain't Me by Kygo (with Selena Gomez) along with songs I’ve never heard before introducing me to new artists which I love. Hipster BBQ is my ultimate go to station.

Lorde Radio – With Lorde being one of my favorite artists, her Pandora radio station “Lorde Radio”, is also one of my go to stations. Her highly anticipating new album titled “Melodrama” is due to be released sometime in 2017. Please be soon! Until then, I am loving and playing on repeat her new song Green Light. Other artists you are bound to hear while playing her Pandora radio station are; Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding, The XX, Sia, Florence + The Machine, Mumford & Son’s, Coldplay, Rihana, and many more.

Wine Pairing I will drink anything while listening to either of these stations. They do however make me want to dance a bit and for dancing, I prefer something on the lighter side like this Meiomi Pinot Noir or a great Pinot Gris like this one from Latah Creek. Both can be purchased at Total Wine.

--- Lauren’s Picks ---

Van Morrison Radio – I’m an old soul when it comes to music. I still love all the music I grew up listening to with my parents. One of my all-time favorite songs is Into the Mystic by Van Morrison. My husband and I played it at our wedding and often play it around the house. This station plays tons of Van Morrison and other artists like Otis Redding, Bill Withers, and the Rolling Stones. It’s a go to for me on chill weekends at home and always reminds me of summer.

Wine Paring - I go Rosé all day when listening to this station. Try Chateau Miraval Cotes de Provence made from Grenache. I love it’s fun bottle shape and it’s rated 90 points by Wine Spectator.

The Lumineers Radio – I love American folk rock, so this station is another go to favorite of mine. To me, this is the new age version of Van Morrison Radio. I saw the Lumineers in concert last summer and they were amazing. Even better in person than on the radio. Ophelia and Stubborn Love are two of my favorites by the Lumineers. In addition to the Lumineers they place artists like The Head and the Heart, Vance Joy and Mumford and Sons.

Wine Paring - I go for a full flavored, medium bodied, dry Sauvignon Blanc with this station. Try Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc.

Eric Church Radio – I’m a sucker for country music. Especially Nashville rock like Eric Church. I grew up in San Diego and surprisingly, the city of sun and surf loves its country music too. For this reason, country music always takes me back to my childhood. I like old and mainstream country. I love Eric Church’s songs like Sinners Like Me, Talledaga and Like a Wrecking Ball. This station plays new country stars like Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean, Eli Young Band and Luke Brian. It also plays old country throw backs like Garth Brooks, Johnny Cash and Willy Nelson.

Wine Paring - I go full bodied with this station. Try this Wildhaven Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Horse Heaven Hills.

What’s your go to Pandora station? Do you use a different music streaming app? We are always looking for recommendations on new music and the best ways to listen.

Cheers,

Brenda & Lauren
